Wine Not! Wednesday Featuring Tenuta Frescobaldi Di Castiglioni 2012

It’s Wine Not! Wednesday Featuring Tenuta Frescobaldi Di Castiglioni 2012. I was recently introduced to Vintage Tuscan Red wines and I am in love. Today’s feature is a dry Ruby Red wine with purplish hues. It is a full bodied wine with powerful aromas of berries such as cherry, currant, strawberry,blue California plum; and just enough spice from nutmeg, and a hint a cinnamon to wake up your palate. I also noticed that there are a few earthy notes that lingered in my nose. In terms of meals, Tenuta Frescobaldi Di Castiglioni 2012 pairs well with rich tomato sauces a good steak or fish which is what I paired my glass with. If you love cheese like myself you can also enjoy a stronger full flavored cheese to balance the taste too.

Its funny, most of the time I am not into such dry wines mainly because I wake up the next morning not feeling so great. However in this instance I have been in love with the explosions of tastes I have been experiencing, some stronger than others depending on what I am eating at the time. Overall the taste of the wine is not one that I have tasted before. For a full bodied wine I can say that I don’t taste the heaviness like I normally do in wines that I have consumed.
