It’s been awhile since I have shared with you my favourite wines, but rest assured I have been reviewing quite a bit of different wines which I will share with you over the course of the next few weeks, just in time for the Christmas holidays. Today’s Wine Not! Wednesday Featuring Montecillo Rioja 2011 is a ruby red wine with a long smooth finish. It has Cherry and Spice aromas with a slight hint of Vanilla which I truly appreciate. This Spanish full-bodied wine pairs well with heartier foods like Beef, lamb as well as other poultry dishes that have rich flavours.
Wine Not! Wednesday Featuring Montecillo Rioja 2011
Montecillo Rioja is a wine that is more on the drier side which is why it pairs so well with richer flavoured foods. I also love drinking it with cheeses and jams because the mix of flavours, aftertaste and texture is just amazing together. I love how much of a classic traditional red wine it is, perfect for entertaining with friends. The grapes used to make this wine are Tempranillo grapes which are on the smooth but bold side compared to other grapes. The Montecillo Rioja is the first Spanish wine that I have tried and I really enjoyed the taste of it. You can feel the richness of it as you take your first sip and the notes of Oak are incredible.
My love for wine has really grown over the last few months mainly because of the types of wine I have been able to try. Getting a real sense of more traditional wines out there rather than the girly ones I use to drink makes me appreciate the difference between the both of them.
What are some of your favourite wines to try? do you prefer lighter/girly wines or can you appreciate a good full bodied wine to enjoy? Check out another one of my favourite reds here
