Wine Not! Wednesday Featuring Fleur Du Cap Chardonnay
Sunny warm days and even warm nights are what I look forward to the most. Today’s Wine Not! Wednesday Featuring Fleur Du Cap Chardonnay is a Pale Yellow Wine that has a mixture of different aromas like citrus and baked Apples. If you love Apple Pie as much as I do then you will love this South African wine. If your palate is particular like mine is you can also pick up hints of Cinnamon and Pear. To make the Fleur Du Cap Chardonnay the grapes were harvested from early February to early March, in the cellar that the grapes are kept in the juice is then clarified and inoculated with pure yeast. For 20% of the wine, fermentation started in the tank and then completed in French and American Oak Barrels.
Fleur Du Cap Chardonnay is a medium bodied wine is very fresh tasting with a beautiful balance between acidity and fruit. You can also pick up on the woodsy taste without it overpowering the beauty of the wine. When I first tasted Fleur Du Cap Chardonnay I was immediately taken back to how much the apple and citrus lingered. and then the sparks of cinnamon to follow, It paired with seafoods dishes that I made more specifically shellfish dishes like oysters. If you love curries or rich chicken meals Fleur Du Cap Chardonnay is definitely what you want to sip on. In terms of how to serve this wine, you can serve it cool but not too cold so that you can savour the bursts of deliciousness this bottle holds.
