#NationalMulledWineDay With Two Oceans Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot
Happy Friday Friends! and what better way to celebrate than with a great recipe to celebrate #NationalMulledWineDay I had the opportunity to work with Two Oceans Wines to create a mulled wine with their Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2016 edition wine. This wine is a bright Ruby Red full of ripe berry fruit aromas with a subtle oak wood spice. The fruits themselves was sourced from vineyards in the coastal areas. It is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon 60% and Merlot Grapes 40%. Up until this week I had never heard of mulled wine let alone it be a “national” day. Then again I can’t say that I am surprised to hear that because it seems there are alot of national days for just about anything.
Mulled wine is an excellent way to bring out the natural sweetness in Red Wine, more so it allows you to really appreciate the aromas and blends that go into making a great wine too. No one really knows where Mulled wine made its first appearance however it has been said that it appeared on the dinner tables in Rome as early as the 2nd century. The drink is especially popular in the United Kingdom, where is drunk most frequently around the winter months when its really cold. There are a few variances in terms of the mulled spices that are used to make this treat just like any recipe you can tweak it to you own liking. The recipe that I am sharing uses the standard ingredients that most mulled spices recipes call for.
How do you plan to enjoy your #nationalmulledwineday? I hope you have the time to gather up your own spices and enjoy a cup, since its pretty cold outside. Have a great weekend friends!
