Motivation Monday: Humility
“Mondays are always a start to a fresh new week. Today’s Motivation Monday post is about Humility. Its a thought that many people feel differently about and I wanted to share my thoughts on it. I’ve always heard the saying “humility is not thinking less of yourself, its thinking of yourself less” this quote resonates with me because I am so hard on myself with everyday life. From past mistakes, choices that I was unsure of and my future to name a few I have sometimes looked at this quote and misinterpreted it in a negative way. Thinking of myself less I sometimes doubted myself and my accomplishments, I pitied myself so badly that I would fall into a
deep depression where it only made my daily life some days, unbearable to deal with.
Often times I would pass judgement on myself as not being a good enough mother and wife and it would play with my mind so much that I sometimes became distant and withdrawn from my family. I was also guilty of suppressing my emotions because again I thought that I was being selfish and needy. At that point I decided that I needed to dig deeper in my bible and pray harder in order to get a better understanding of what exactly I was feeling. I know now, that thinking less of myself doesn’t mean that my self worth is less, rather it means to be more selfless in order to be there for people that are in need. More importantly when I think less of myself I am able to think about God more and his loving kindness he provides me with. Thinking of myself less also allows me to receive more of his love and blessings so I am able to share his love with those around me more.
Its Monday a fresh start to the week. I encourage you all to get out there and be more self less, be still and listen to others. Now that we are in the last weeks before the holidays, this is a great time to practice a different way of thinking.
Happy Monday! and have a great week.
