Happy Thanks giving all!. Its a quiet day over on my side. My thanks giving dinner was yesterday so since the weather is rainy and gloomy outside I can sit down with my pumpkin pie and get some much needed blog posts out.
Last month ELF Cosmetics had there buy 1 get one 50% off so since I had a list of items that I wanted to try for reviewing purposes I decided to make use of the sale as well as an old $5 off coupon I had. Over the next few days I will be sharing with you various items I picked up from the sale. So to start of that series I will be sharing my thoughts and swatches on the Matte Lip Colors.
The Matte lip color have 0.05 oz of product in a retractable casing. It generally comes in 6 shades to choose from however some of the shades I have swatched were limited and are no longer on the website. The Matte lip colors are also infused with Vitamin A,C,E to keep the lips moisturized and supple looking while still providing a semi -matte finish. Elf’s Matte lip color retails for $3 each, which is quite affordable for those who are just getting into wearing lipsticks. I really loved how they applied there was no tugging on my lips, I was able to control how opaque I wanted the colour and it was pretty much fragrance free.
The packaging I wasn’t impressed with, they felt a little cheap and upon opening one of the lip colors it actually broke into 2 pieces in my hand, as well the actual lip color seemed to have broke free from inside so it fell out. Other than that minor flaw the formula is amazing although they are “matte” which I really don’t agree with as they are more or either a semi-matte or satin finish. They left my lips feeling super buttery and soft. the colour variation is also perfect for the fall and winter months ahead. They will definitely be a repurchase for me. There is also a built in sharpener at the bottom so that you can keep the shape of the pencil as precise as possible.
